would this halloween costume be okay?

Posted by on Tuesday, 19 October, 2010

Okay so i live in a place where it is VERY cold on halloween night. I had planned for my kids too be a princess and winnie the pooh but there are a few issues

1. my son , who is 2.5, is autistic and scared of his costume. he won’t even try it on.
2. my daughter is one and her costume is thin and really hard to put over anything.

so i was thinking of changing it up. I’ll be taking my daughter to a halloween party for small kids (my son wouldn’t be able to handle it) about a week before haloween and she’s gonna wear her princess costume there. (i’ll be wearing a fairy costume to that party. )

would it be too creepy to dress both of my children up like little vampires for trick or treating? my children are both naturally pale with dark circles under their eyes (unfortunet trait passed down from me) so they wouldn’t need much make up. they could wear pretty normal clothing. really all i would need is a bit of fake blood on the side of their mouths to let people know their vampires. i was thinking maybe a few spots of it on a bib for my daughter. I’ll be a vampire with them with basicly just some dark make-up. and a little fake blood.

what do you think.. is it too creepy?
of course they’ll be wearing coats lol. that was part of my reasoning for looking at something other then the costumes they have
lol yeah im a little sick of how cutesy halloweens gotten lately too. i remember being a witch with green skin and all, or a vampire, or an evil fairy when i was little. one year i went as a dead cheerleader and the next a physco school girl.

Kids Halloween Party Ideas and Trivia help needed!!?

Posted by on Monday, 11 October, 2010

We will be decorating pumpkins (I bought stickers), playing GHOST (a halloween version of BINGO) doing a craft and I want to do trivia!! We will also have a scrambled word and Halloween words (how many can you think of in like 2 minutes) contest for the older kids– Because this is Veterans organization party the age is so varied I need things to keep them occupied before the costume contest which I have split into age groups

    Infants: 0 – 18 Months (participating??)

Toddlers 19 Months – 3 Years Old (stuffed animal for participating)

4-7 and 8-10 (flashlights for participating)

I am looking for prize ideas too….all kids are getting participation prizes b/c I think kids like that!!
We are looking for Most Original, Scariest, Sweetest, Best Witch, Silliest/Craziest/Wildest depending on costumes we get…..any other ideas (these are for the older kids only I don’t think babies really need a prize just recognition and the other kids I am thinking of annoucing them per costume…so everyone gets called up and gets a little something…like best fairy, best ninja, best.. whatever thoughts? rather than do grand prizes?? Thoughts??

I have little flashlights and slinkys for participating in the costume contests and will be getting those free meal coupons from Frischs and ??? just trying to make it good for all the kids!!

I need about 20 questions about Halloween kids would know

    What day is Halloween?

    What are Halloween colors?

    any other ideas

        Halloween question got me thinking???

Posted by on Monday, 7 June, 2010

Do you dress your kids alike or is that dumb? I have a 19 month old boy and a newborn she will be 3.5 months at halloween and he will be 22 months. I also have a two-year-old step-daughter that we have on halloween each year. Last year the older two were a pink dinosaur and a giraffe. This year I’m thinking about doing a theme but I don’t know what. Oh and really it’s not too early I work retail and costumes will be out in about 3 weeks. icon smile Halloween question got me thinking??? I hate the lamb outfit a lot of people put their baby girls in (at least around here). I like the fairies and such though. I don’t want to break the bank over this but something cute. I thought about ordering the tutu costumes that the specialty places make. Do you think these are cute? Thanks.
LOL yeah my hubby’s been told that before but really it has nothing to do with the question. The first was not planned. I don’t think you generally plan to have a baby with someone you have only known for two weeks (first times the charm) and only date for a few months but really three years later who really cares. It’s not an issue. I love my SD the same as my children.
I like the Wizard of Oz idea. I might have SD be the witch though and my son the lion and my daughter Dorthy cause I remember I saw a cute baby outfit of that in a tutu. Maybe we will even dress up too! lol
Aww that is a cute pumpkin!! They could be the three little pumpkins too! That would be cute!
Go bother someone else’s question….I have a cousin who is a girl and has three kids by three different guys and she is a great Mom and not a sl*t at all! She is married now and her youngest is in kindergarten. Everyone makes mistakes, you live and learn and get over it and go on with your life. I wouldn’t care if he had 5 kids by 5 different women before me as long as he is a good dad and takes care of them which he does. Don’t judge you don’t know what you are talking about.
Where did you get the idea that these kids don’t have stable homes and consistency? I can assure you that they all do. Silly to assume they don’t. So after great consideration you should have some costume ideas by now…….

Halloween costume for an 11 year old girl?

Posted by on Thursday, 27 May, 2010

I am making Halloween costumes for my kids I already have plans for all my others, but my 11 year old is being difficult. Doesn’t like any of my ideas and can’t think of any for herself. Can you think of anything for her?

Money isn’t too big an issue. I can stitch some but not really sew (don’t even have a machine)?
We enter contests every year so we don’t use store bought ones.

The past few of years she has been a tooth fairy, Miss America, and Wendy Witch. She wants something to make her pretty but not a princess because it’s too "childish" LOL.
She has also been a teacher and doctor before.
Her favorite singer is *gasp* Brittany Spears
and she doesn’t watch TV except Top Model

          Thanks for that suggestion though

My kids are breaking my heart with their Halloween costume ideas….?

Posted by on Thursday, 27 May, 2010

For the first time ever, my kids are telling me that they want STORE BOUGHT costumes this year! And to top it off, my 11 yr old son wants to be Scream – you know, black cloak and that mask that everyone wears. Every year I have slaved over making incredible, creative, one of a kind costumes. I love doing this. Now they just want to wear some boring crap that every other kid is wearing. This is not my idea of Halloween. They are ages 8 (girl), 10 and 11 (boys). When and why did my kids decide to be so conformist and does anyone have any ideas that I could suggest as costumes which would be cool. In previous years they have been: witch, Gandalf, pirates, evil altar boy, zombies, fairy, barbarians, princess. I am a really good costume maker and they always win first place at school. I love Halloween!
By the way, I know that Halloween is for them, not me, but this desire to look just like everyone else is really getting me down.
