Need some costume ideas……?

Posted by on Saturday, 5 June, 2010

I have a costume party to go to where we need to dress up as something we loved when we were a kid. The invitation says fairies, pirates, etc. I am 20 and the only costume I think of thats something I liked when I was a kid is Spice Girls or Barbie…and they’re not very exciting lol.

What the heck has happened to Halloween?

Posted by on Wednesday, 2 June, 2010

When I was a kid, Halloween was about scaring the hell outta each other… people would decorate their houses to look like old graveyards and lie in wait for trick or treaters to come by to pounce out and yell… I remember one house had an electric chair with a "corpse" in it holding a bucket of candy…
Now Halloween is all cutesy and sissy la-la… Jack o’ lanterns are made to look like friggin Care Bears and the costumes are all fairies and pirates… I hardly ever see anyone decorate for Halloween anymore
What happened to my favorite holiday?!

Parents would u rent a costume trunk?

Posted by on Friday, 28 May, 2010

I always wanted to have my own party planning buisness for children I think a small way to get started would be to rent out costume trunks. I can’t find alot of infromation on this sort of thing though like I don’t see other people who do this. What I mean if you are unsure is I would have a trunk filled with costumes for children to dress up in and have a fun time. I would rent them out for partys, church events or just a fun day. I was wondering if you think people would rent such a thing and how much would they be willing to pay for it? I was thinking about having differnt kinds of trunks like one with princess dresses it would also have crowns and jewlery, fairy costumes with wings and fairy wands, divas with feather boas, pirates this could be for the girls and boys. I don’t know about anything else but if you have young kids I would love some feed back. Also they would include lots of customes in each trunk so a large group of children would still get a chioce.
In the future I would love to do whole parties I have seen this done where they come to your house set up in the princess theme have the kids dress up and play games eat and then they would clean up and go home. This is what I would love to do but it takes more time and more money so I want to start out smaller I also would offer face painting ect…
Thanks I have thought about the costumes being ruined and that is a fear of mine if I would be doing the parties all together myself I would make sure to have food that was less of a mess and lighter colored so staining wasn’t such and issue. So anotherwords do u think I should just go all out and just plan the parties? Thanks for the advice so far..

My kids are breaking my heart with their Halloween costume ideas….?

Posted by on Thursday, 27 May, 2010

For the first time ever, my kids are telling me that they want STORE BOUGHT costumes this year! And to top it off, my 11 yr old son wants to be Scream – you know, black cloak and that mask that everyone wears. Every year I have slaved over making incredible, creative, one of a kind costumes. I love doing this. Now they just want to wear some boring crap that every other kid is wearing. This is not my idea of Halloween. They are ages 8 (girl), 10 and 11 (boys). When and why did my kids decide to be so conformist and does anyone have any ideas that I could suggest as costumes which would be cool. In previous years they have been: witch, Gandalf, pirates, evil altar boy, zombies, fairy, barbarians, princess. I am a really good costume maker and they always win first place at school. I love Halloween!
By the way, I know that Halloween is for them, not me, but this desire to look just like everyone else is really getting me down.
