Getting a good costume going for Halloween can be a difficult job for any number of reasons. These may vary from cost to ideas. Fortunately, there are a few suggestions here that may help you out of your quandary. Below are some tips on getting the most out of your money as well as some popular and wicked costumes that many will be considering for this year’s Halloween.
Costume Ideas
While not an exhaustive list, the following ideas fit the traditional category very well; zombie, skeleton, witch, ghost and so on. These are all easy to do and all anyone to join in the holiday hi-jinx of Halloween. For those who want something different, but still scary, consider one of the many horror film icons. Mike Myers from Halloween with his William Shatner mask. Jason from Friday the 13th with his hockey mask. Freddy Krueger from Nightmare on Elm Street with his claw-hand.
As far as truly traditional outfits go, they’re easily home-made. A ghost is a sheet with two holes cut out for eyes, then placed over your head. A zombie is an amalgamation of fake blood, fake injuries, some torn clothes and well-placed makeup for the gaunt look.
The Addams Family is good and even better if people know who you’re supposed to be. If you’re tall, there’s Lurch, the giant, Frankenstein-like butler. There’s Fester, a short, bald and very pale man who lights a light-bulb with his teeth. For an extra creative stretch, you could be Wednesday and Pugsley, the brother and sister. Then there’s Morticia, a sleek vampire and Gomez, the smooth and suave husband with a devilish mustache.
For a contemporary try at avoiding horror, the super hero genre is always open. From Batman to the Hulk, from Spiderman to Superman, there’s dozens and dozens of super hero characters you can be. The best part is that many outfits are easily bought from a store in varying degrees of quality. For the truly ambitious Halloweeners, you could consider making your own superior outfit to shame all the other doppelgangers.
So, to truly top the super hero genre, you either need to be creative and willing to spend a little to get the right materials or simply purchase a professionally-made suit. For children, there are many options for cheap super hero outfits, but if you’re an adult wishing to spend the night out, either with your kids or with your same-age friends, then finding an outfit may be a little harder.

Halloweens coming up and I was thinking of being some kind of modern fairy. (Not the little kid tiara/tinkerbell thing) Any ideas on how to create this? I dont want to just go to some halloween store and buy the already made costume, I want to use actual clothes. If you have any other teen halloween costumes I’ll love that too!

Ok I know this seem skinda obvious but I just want to see what people come up with. I’m not that creative so maybe others could think of something more unique. My sister is throwing a kids halloween party this weekend so it has to be a quick idea (no I cant sew crap). She wants the adults to dress up. I really don’t want to spend a bunch a money. I have some black fairy wings and want some ideas of what to put with them. Thanks

Okay so i live in a place where it is VERY cold on halloween night. I had planned for my kids too be a princess and winnie the pooh but there are a few issues
1. my son , who is 2.5, is autistic and scared of his costume. he won’t even try it on.
2. my daughter is one and her costume is thin and really hard to put over anything.
so i was thinking of changing it up. I’ll be taking my daughter to a halloween party for small kids (my son wouldn’t be able to handle it) about a week before haloween and she’s gonna wear her princess costume there. (i’ll be wearing a fairy costume to that party. )
would it be too creepy to dress both of my children up like little vampires for trick or treating? my children are both naturally pale with dark circles under their eyes (unfortunet trait passed down from me) so they wouldn’t need much make up. they could wear pretty normal clothing. really all i would need is a bit of fake blood on the side of their mouths to let people know their vampires. i was thinking maybe a few spots of it on a bib for my daughter. I’ll be a vampire with them with basicly just some dark make-up. and a little fake blood.
what do you think.. is it too creepy?
of course they’ll be wearing coats lol. that was part of my reasoning for looking at something other then the costumes they have
lol yeah im a little sick of how cutesy halloweens gotten lately too. i remember being a witch with green skin and all, or a vampire, or an evil fairy when i was little. one year i went as a dead cheerleader and the next a physco school girl.
